At TDJ Construction, we understand the importance of maintaining the structural integrity of homes, especially when they are on the market. Recently, we were called upon to undertake essential repairs at a property in Market Harborough, preparing it for sale by addressing some critical structural issues. The homeowners were preparing to sell their house and needed to ensure it was in optimal condition for prospective buyers. They noticed cracks in the walls and were concerned about the structural stability of the property. To address these issues, they reached out to us for our expertise in crack stitching and lintel installation.
Crack stitching is a method of repairing and stabilizing cracked walls by inserting stainless steel bars into the mortar joints. This technique not only repairs the cracks but also strengthens the wall, preventing future movement. Installing new lintels was also necessary to provide additional support to the openings in the walls, such as windows and doors. Lintels are crucial components that bear the load of the structure above these openings, ensuring stability and preventing further cracking. Our experienced team approached the repairs with precision and care. We began by carefully inserting the stainless steel bars into the mortar joints, ensuring they were securely anchored. This process effectively stitched the cracks together, restoring the integrity of the walls.
Next, we installed new lintels to support the openings. We carefully removed the old, damaged lintels and replaced them with new, high-quality ones. This provided the necessary reinforcement and ensured the structural stability of the property.
The customer was extremely satisfied with the results as once these repairs were completed, the property was ready for the market, giving potential buyers confidence in its structural integrity.

TDJ Construction have recently completed another superb project in Rothwell where we restored an historical brick wall using Lime Mortar. The wall was showing signs of deterioration through age as the original Lime Mortar had begun crumbling or missing from the bricks compromising the walls stability and appearance.
Our experienced team meticulously removed the old, damaged mortar to prepare the wall for restoration. We carefully selected traditional lime mortar to match the original construction and successfully restored the wall’s structural integrity as well as maintaining its historical authenticity and appearance.
This was another project the property owners were delighted with, in particular the care taken to maintain the wall’s character.

In this post, we take a look at a recent project in which we carried out some chimney repairs on a beautiful listed building in a conservation area in Cambridgeshire.
The chimneys had suffered from weathering and decay, and needed some urgent attention to prevent further damage and ensure safety. As the building is listed and located in a conservation area, we had to work closely with the local planning authority and heritage experts to ensure that our repairs were in keeping with the original character and style of the building.
We used traditional materials and techniques, such as lime mortar, handmade bricks, and lead flashing, to repair the chimneys and restore their appearance. The result is a set of chimneys that look as good as new, but also blend seamlessly with the historic fabric of the building.
It was a pleasure to work on such a stunning property and to contribute to its preservation for future generations. If you have a similar project in mind, or if you need any advice on building or restoring listed buildings or properties in conservation areas, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We are proud to share one of our recent projects where we carried out some repointing and repairs to a chimney in Northamptonshire. The chimney had suffered from weathering and erosion over the years, and needed some attention to restore its appearance and functionality.
We used a scaffold tower to access the chimney safely and efficiently. We removed the loose and damaged mortar from the joints, and cleaned the bricks with a wire brush. We then applied new mortar to the joints, using a colour-matched mix to blend in with the existing brickwork.
The result is a chimney that looks as good as new, and is ready to withstand the elements for many years to come. Our client was very happy with our work, and we enjoyed working on this project.

At TDJ Construction, we are pleased to showcase our latest project: a retaining wall for a customer in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. A retaining wall is a structure that holds back soil or water from a building or a slope. It can improve the stability and appearance of your property, as well as prevent erosion and flooding.
The existing retaining wall had collapsed over time, and our customer wanted it replacing with a new one. They chose a brick design that matched the style of their house and added a touch of elegance and created more usable space in their garden. We worked closely with them to plan and execute the project, ensuring that the wall met their needs and expectations.
The project involved excavating the site, laying the foundations, building the wall with bricks, and finishing it with mortar and coping. We also installed drainage pipes behind the wall to prevent water accumulation and pressure.
We are happy to report that our customer was delighted with the result. We would like to thank our customer for choosing us for their retaining wall project. We enjoyed working with them and we are glad that they are satisfied with our work. If you are looking for a reliable and experienced builder in Leicestershire, contact us today for a quote.
